Training & Apprenticeships

Training keeps the workforce at Cleveland Plumbing Industry the most expert and qualified in the industry. Our member contractors support the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) that regulates and funds the accredited training programs, which include extensive apprenticeship training for new employees and continuing education for journeymen plumbers.

Apprenticeship

plumber1_squareBefore they become journeymen plumbers, before they are put in charge of your residential or commercial project, CPI contractors undergo one of the most rigorous industry apprentice programs in the world.

The apprenticeship program is run by the JATC and consists of five one-year segments, each of which includes 1,700 to 2,000 hours of on-the-job training and a minimum of 246 hours of classroom instruction. All CPI plumbing professionals receive a strong general education in the plumbing trades and with core courses in mathematics, science, drafting, welding and other pipe trades-related topics.

Only after completing the five-year apprenticeship do CPI contractors become certified journeymen.

Upgrade Training

Even the most experienced CPI journeymen plumbers constantly upgrade their skills through classes, seminars and programs provided by the JATC.
